Roots and Recipes Draft

"It was my grandmother's recipe, passed down to my mother, then passed down to me." My mother replied during the interview.  Paella, a spanish dish that consists of rice, seafood meat & other spices & ingredients. It is sort of like a spanish fried rice. All of the ingredients form a really tasty meal. When the rice hits your taste buds you immediately taste the savoriness of the spices. As you chew, the texture & flavor of the seafood bring this dish to a whole other level. The seafood tastes like you just caught it. On top of that, the chickens flavor & consistency really stands out & completes the dish. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

My grandmother would cook Paella every sunday after church when I was younger. It was definitely something to look forward to at the end of the week. Her cooking brought everyone together. My whole family would be there to share the meal. I had a great time seeing all of my family members so happy as they ate my grandmothers cooking. When I eat Paella it brings back good memories & makes me feel safe. It is definitely a comfort food.

My grandmother passed down this recipe to my mother. "I've revised the original recipe, it adds a unique flavor to it. It leans more to my style of cooking." She's added quite a bit to the recipe such as deviled eggs on top and portuguese sausage. Its a bit different from the traditional dish. Although my grandmother mother cooking in unison, I enjoy either recipe.

Paella to me is a dish with great history and sentimental meaning. It is a great comfort food and I enjoy eating it. My mother & grandmother are great cooks & I am thankful to be able to eat such a good dish.

  1. Keep in mind to try and word your interview answers directly into the essay. Avoid stating "in the interview." Also never use "&" you need to spell it out. Please be more explanatory and descriptive, explain why it is special to you and only you aside from everyone else. Also explain your ideas more, why is your family happy, what memories are good and why does it make you feel safe (from what). Take your time in the final draft.
