Querencia Final Draft

A'ala Skate Park
I take a deep breath drop my skateboard; it turns over and reveals the ruined in4mation graphic. I flip my board back over with my foot and start riding. I hear my wheels rolling against the rough concrete, the sound reminds me of water flowing. The sound soothes me. I land a kick flip first try; it’s one of my favorite tricks. My day is already starting well. I pull my phone out to text a couple friends. I gain speed as I start to bomb the hill. My heart starts to beat faster. I swerve around several cars as they honk at me, an adrenaline rush. I feel free, like a bird making its way through the clouds. I see the view of the city slowly unfold as I ride past the bridge. It seems unreal; the view looks like a picture to me. I feel peace at this moment, no problems no stress. I see the bus in my peripheral vision I push my board faster. I use all my leg strength to make it to the bus stop with enough time to pull my bus stop out. Destination: A’ala.

“We’re finally here!” my friend says as the bus slowly comes to a stop. I pick up my board and walk off the bus. The sun hits my eyes as if to wake me up from that long bus ride. I smell the fresh air and put my earphones in my ear. ASAP Rocky starts to play. I turn up the volume and drown my self out of the world around me. I start to skate around the park. I try a trick a couple of times and bail. I tumble down a ramp and scrape my elbow. Nothing major I think to my self as I hop back on my board and examine my battle scar. I try the trick again and finally land it. The feeling of landing a trick is unlike any other, especially if you had to work for it. I skate towards my friends and we sit on a box nearby. I talk for a while with them as I drink my soda. We talk about all the memories we’ve had in this place. I would be a completely different person with out this skate park. This is where I found my self. This is why it is my Querencia.
